Real estate closings can take one to one and a half hours, depending on whether there is a bank transaction involved and how many mortgages are being taken out. Appointments for simple wills, living wills and Powers of Attorney take about one half hour for discussion and another half hour for document preparation and signing. Clients often leave with their completed documents.

For a real estate purchase, bring a bank check made out to ‘Jane R. Marsh Client’s Fund’ in the amount indicated to you prior to the closing. Also bring a photo ID. You will be notified prior to the closing if any other documents are required.
For a real estate sale, you will be notified prior to the closing of any items that are required. It is good to bring at least one key.
For a real estate refinance, bring a photo ID. You will be informed prior to the closing whether you need to bring a bank check, or if any documents are required by the bank.
If you are making changes to your Will, Living Will or Power of Attorney, please bring the originals of these documents if you have done them before, so they may be reviewed and then destroyed after the new ones have been executed. You should have the correct legal name and address of anyone you may wish to mention.

If you are a landlord calling about an eviction matter, please be prepared to email or fax a copy of the lease, along with the names of all adults living at the rented property and their social security numbers.
